The party was held at P&T Knitwear on the Lower East Side.

The photos I took of writers with their pieces, like “Father” by Lara Tanner and “The Weight Around My Neck” by Alaina Moya, showcase the creative space that MEUF fosters for ownership and femininity.
The event included speeches by the MEUF team and a DJ performance by Gonca Turkoglu.

The traditionally feminine details (of jewelry and accessories) noticed alongside MEUF print Issue I: Taboo, exemplify the essence of the magazine’s first issue – a celebration of a femininity.
The MEUF editorial team felt strongly connected to the theme of Taboo, making it their goal to include stories that conversed with the most uncomfortable and ignored topics of society. They understood that for systems of oppression to be deconstructed, discussion is necessary. The theme of taboo is intended to flip connotations and definitions on their head, and to leave a reader questioning how they understand certain words, actions, and relationships. However, beyond its seriousness, taboo can be fun, sexy, and silly. There is a certain multifaceted beauty in this issue, one that cannot be constrained.

The bookstore quickly turned into a dance floor, the atmosphere casual, partygoers excited and comfortable with a space where nothing is taboo.
